Welcome to another exciting design tutorial where I demonstrate how to leverage Canva's capabilities to recreate famous logos. Designing a unique logo doesn't always necessitate high-end software; with a bit of creativity, you can work wonders in Canva. This tutorial showcases the remaking of five iconic brand logos, sparking inspiration for your own designs.

Why Design in Canva?

Designing in Canva allows you to explore creative possibilities with its intuitive interface and versatile tools. Instead of relying on standard templates, I encourage you to think conceptually for a truly unique and special logo. Let’s dive into each logo, exploring how these renowned designs can be recreated in Canva.

1. Instagram Logo

Conceptual Approach: The Instagram logo is primarily composed of geometric shapes. We'll recreate it using squares and circles.

  • Create the Outer Shape: Insert a square and round its corners till it resembles the outer square of the Instagram logo.
  • Build Inner Elements: Layer additional squares and circles, using the border tool for outlines and adjusting thickness to match the original design.
  • Add Colour: Use Canva's gradient tool under 'Apps' to mimic the Instagram colour palette. Adjust settings for a seamless blend.

2. FedEx Logo

Conceptual Approach: This logo cleverly hides an arrow in the negative space between the E and X, emphasising the importance of conceptual thinking in design.

  • Text Creation: Insert text using a sans-serif font similar to the FedEx logo. Adjust letter spacing to ensure the letters touch.
  • Add Colour: Use purple and orange, the brand colours, to fill the respective letters.
  • Create the Arrow: Align the E and X so the negative space forms an arrow. If necessary for precision, use image tracing tools.

3. Android Logo

Conceptual Approach: Recreate the playful, simple elements of the Android logo.

  • Text: Using a sans-serif font, similar characters will help emulate the Android branding.
  • Design the Character: Use arches and semicircles for the head, rectangles for the antennas, and circles for the eyes. Adjust sizes and angles for accuracy.

4. Mitsubishi Logo

Conceptual Approach: The Mitsubishi logo relies heavily on precise geometric shapes — particularly diamonds.

  • Text: Use Helvetica or a close alternative for the text, ensuring close kerning.
  • Create the Diamonds: Use a square and rotate it to form a diamond, duplicating and aligning to form the Mitsubishi symbol.

5. Burger King Logo

Conceptual Approach: This logo’s playful and bold structure can be challenging due to its unique shape combination.

  • Text: Use a bold, rounded font. Adjust spacing to reflect the original logo styling.
  • Shape Formation: Use Canva's shapes to create semi-circles and rectangles. Adjust corners for rounding.
  • Final Assembly: Overlay text over shapes, adjusting positions for balance and symmetry.
